According to the San Jose Mercury News home sales were down in October in the Bay Area, dropping by just under 2 percent from October, 2014 even as prices kept going up.
This, of course, gives buyers a break from the fierce rounds of competitive bidding even as prices rose but at a more modest 6 percent rate rather than the double-digit increases which had been the norm in recent months.
With the holidays fast approaching, the year’s end tends to be a relative down time for the housing market. Many would-be buyers decide to wait until spring.
Still, as one agent pointed out, “Things may have slowed a bit, but the buyers are still out there.”
