It’s an understatement to say that 2016 was a good year to sell your home. According to ATTOM Data Solutions’ Year-End 2016 Home Sales Report nation-wide the average home seller made a profit of $38,206 or 21 percent since the time of purchase. This is the highest mark since 2007.
The news was much much better for Bay Area home sellers. Both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas showed a return of 69 percent since the date of purchase. (Santa Rosa was number 3 by the way.)
San Francisco was the second most expensive county in America behind Manhattan with a median sales price of $1,175,000. San Mateo, Marin and Santa Clara counties rounded out the top five in the country.
