A new Housing Opportunities and Market Experience survey reveals that 69 percent of the respondents in Western states believe that now is a good time to sell a home. Nationwide, 62 percent thought the current market warranted selling but only 56 percent in the Northeast agreed.
On the other hand, only 59 percent of Western respondents thought this was a prime time to buy a home while nationwide the percentage was considerably higher at 70.
Renters were not so optimistic with only 57 percent saying that now is a good time to buy down from 68 percent a year ago.
Finally, the Personal Finance Outlook index, which measures confidence in that financial situations will improve in the coming six months, rose slightly to 59.8 on a 100-point scale.
