It probably comes a news to just about no but the real estate information service DataQuick is reporting that June 2014 prices for homes in the Bay Area are approaching the record levels of pre-crash 2007.
As prices in San Francisco and the Peninsula are actually higher or very near the all-time peak, many buyers are now looking – and buying – in the East Bay. Contra Costa is still 25.7 percent below its high, while eastern parts of the county such as Antioch and Pittsburg are 42 percent below their peaks.
Throughout much of the area inventory remains low and the competition – and bidding – is intense.
At the same time, some realtors report that a number of prospective buyers are already given up as prices have risen out of their range.
