According to statistics from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, birthrates in the United States have fallen to the lowest level in over 30 years. Last year saw 3.8 million births, down 2 percent from the previous year and the fourth year in a row that the rate has declined.
The National Association of Home Builders says this will certainly affect the single-family housing sector 20 years down the line but also pointed out that many effects are being felt now as young adults are living with their parents or roommates.
Analysts agree that providing affordable housing would go a long way in reducing the lower fertility trend.
