After a welcome decline during the summer months, lumber prices seem to be on the rise again according to a recent report by National Mortgage News. Prices reached their peak in May and then declined which only fueled pent-up demand for wood and the current escalation.
Analysts believe the demand for lumber will continue throughout 2022. Meantime, some builders are looking at alternative materials, including fiberboard that’s made almost entirely from food waste. Lennar has recently announced that they are ready to begin the U.s.’s largest community of 3D-printed homes that use a very limited amount of lumber.
