A recent study shows that during the last two years the largest group of home buyers has been the Millennials – those age 34 or younger. Currently they comprise 32% of all buyers.
Generation X – those between 35 and 49 – make up the next largest group of buyers at 27%. Baby Boomers – age 50 to 68 years – account for 31% of the buying market.
Finally, the Silent Generation – age 69 to 89 – made up 10% of those buying a home during the past two years.
Somewhat surprisingly the Millennials – theoretically the most computer-savvy group – were the most likely to use a real estate agent, although a sizable portion of their initial research was conducted online.
