Realtor.com’s 2017 National Housing Forecast projects that home prices nationwide will increase by 3.9 percent while San Francisco prices are expected to grow by 8.41 percent this year – tops in the country – with San Jose right behind at 8.26 percent.
On the other hand, both San Francisco and San Jose are projected to be below the nationwide sales volume gain of 1.9 percent with San Francisco checking in at 1.17 percent and San Jose sitting at 1.26 percent.
Low inventory is cited for the slower than normal sales volume with no sign of relief anytime soon.
