According to CoreLogic, a real estate information service, 9,386 home were sold in the Bay Area in June, 2015, an increase of 13.9 percent over May 2015 and a 16.4 percent increase of June 2014. In fact, the sales total was the highest for any June since 2006 when 10,830 home were sold.
The median price for homes sold in the region was $660,000, up 6.8 percent over June 2014, and the highest for any month since the peak in June and July 2007 which reached $665,000.
Analysts agreed that strong job growth in the region coupled with reasonable mortgage rates and improving consumer confidence have helped drive sales.
The question remains whether the trend can continue. Experts will be watching the tight home inventory and the rising prices carefully in the months ahead
