Despite the high home prices and overall cost-of-living, the Bay Area and San Jose in particular remain near the top of the best places to live in 2017.

The U.S News & World Report rates San Jose as the 3rd most desirable place to live in the country with a score of 7.4 out of 10 primarily due to the overall ob market (8.7) and quality of life (7.7). The only score that was lower was value (6.1).

San Francisco ranked number 16 with an overall score of 7.0. Once again job market led the way (8.7) but value was considerably lower (5.6).

Austin, Texas ranked number 1 followed by Denver.
