The Federal Government has finalized the regulations over the commercial use of unmanned aerial vehicles, paving the way for drones to take listing photos and videos of real estate. The FAA ruling allows users to obtain a remote pilot certification to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that weigh less than 55 pounds providing the aircraft remains visual line-of-sight.
To earn the certificate, a user must pass a test of aeronautical knowledge at an FAA-approved testing center but the applicant does not have to have to have formal flight training.
The removal of this constraint should certainly allow more real estate professionals to use drones in their business.
