“Walkable mixed-use neighborhood” is a key buzzword these days amongst young professionals as they have come to highly value being close to areas of entertainment, public transportation, and job centers – without having to rely on a car.
Want proof? Neighborhoods with a high walkability factor retain and increase their value even in difficult real estate markets. Walkable neighborhoods with a wide mix of uses was preferred by 60 percent of respondents in a recent NAR Community Preference Survey.
