The National Association of Home Builders reports in a recent study on what home buyers prefer from their properties that single-family detached homes are the number one option of 65 percent of buyers, led by the baby boomer generation. 77 percent of millennials really want a basement and 88 percent of seniors along with 75 percent of baby boomers would prefer a single-story home. Interestingly 64 percent of all buyers prefer a single-story home.
66 percent of homebuyers prefer the suburbs while only 8 percent like a central city location.
37 of all buyers could do without a formal living room, led by 43 percent of millennials.
Finally, while environmental concerns are still important only 13 percent are willing willing to pay more for a home solely for environmental reasons.
